For those who desire to reach full recovery from disordered eating or an eating disorder...

Want to feel relaxed around food, have an appreciation for your body, and have the ability to deal with the inevitable challenges of life WITHOUT using food, restriction, or over exercise?

You already know other people who have recovered and left their eating disorders behind for good: they’re living a meaningful life of true health and freedom rather than being dictated by rules, fear and anxiety. And that’s what you want too, right?

Developing resilience is the ONLY way to reach a place of full recovery.

Recovery doesn’t happen overnight; it takes time and needs action taken on a daily basis. Recovery involves doing things that you are deeply afraid and fearful of. And not just once, but repeatedly.

So, the question is, how do you ever expect to fully recovery WITHOUT learning how to take actions in support of your recovery, even when uncomfortable thoughts and feelings arise?

Research shows that one's level of resilience can predict their likelihood of developing an eating disorder in the first place.

The research also shows that resilience is needed for recovery and that those who develop resilience are the ones who reach a place of recovery.

The best part?

It’s not something that you either have or you don’t. Resilience is a learned skill.  And it’s a skill I’ve shown countless clients how to develop.

Resilience is also something that you’ll use well after the eating disorder or disordered eating is gone and it’s the most effective way of preventing the disorder from ever coming back.

đŸ˜« Does this sound like you?

  • You feel trapped with food: you want to make changes to your eating but the intrusive thoughts and intense full-body dread stop this from happening

  • When you think about your body or catch glimpses of it in the mirror, you feel let down and filled with rage and shame

  • You realise that you no longer pursue hobbies, especially if they include being still or having to concentrate

  • You have limited friends and social connections. And the relationships you do have lack any real depth

  • You’re unable to be present with your kids in the way you’d like. You hate that you can’t be a role model for them and fear that you will pass on your disorder to them

  • You speak to yourself in a way you would NEVER speak to a friend: critical and lacking any kindness or warmth

  • You often rationalise that “things used to be worse than this”, but when you’re honest with yourself, you know that things aren’t how you’d like them to be

  • You spend time each day compulsively walking and cleaning because you feel you “have to” and it feels impossible not to

  • You lack the freedom to do the little things: go for a spontaneous brunch or gelato with friends or sit down and read a book (rather than reading the same paragraph 5 times and giving up because none of it is going in)

💭 Imagine if...

✔ Your symptoms have improved: you can sleep through the night; you’re no longer cold; your period has come back; you can digest a wide range of foods; your hair, skin and nails are strong and healthy; and you can concentrate and your memory’s improved

✔ Thoughts about eating have drifted into the background and you see food for what it is: just food

✔ You can freely enjoy meals out with friends or family without needing to check the menu in advance or to compensate in any way

✔ You have specific tools and practices to use when you have a difficult interaction with a work colleague or you feel disappointed in something you said (the inevitable challenges of being a human being)

And...

✔ You feel connected and sincerely grateful for your body

✔ You no longer fear “negative” emotions or critical thoughts, as you know what to do in these situations (and it doesn’t involve using old disordered behaviours)

✔ You realise you’re being the example that you ALWAYS wanted to be for your kids

✔ You can go on holiday and enjoy the experience without panicking about food and exercise and keeping up your usual routine

✔ You have support and guidance from a compassionate coach and a community of other people who are going through the same things as you - so you never have to feel isolated and alone in your recovery EVER again!

What my clients are saying...

"The best investment I could make for myself and my future."

Before: “Despite working with a nutritionist and a therapist for more than a year, I was still firmly entrenched in the hellish prison of “quasi” recovery, unable to comprehend how I could completely walk away from what I believed to have been my identity for as long as I could remember. Nor could I imagine a way forward without it.”

After: “I knew from the first few minutes of speaking with Chris that working with him was going to be the best investment I could make for myself and my future. I am eternally grateful to Chris for the gifts he has given me in our time together and know they will continue to illuminate my path ahead to a free and fulfilling future.”

Julie F,
Stay-at-home Mum

"Chris gave me the keys to my life"

Before: “I’d been back and forth to doctors, tried every therapy, holistic treatment, and wellness tactic going, but I felt like crap, every day, mentally and physically. I was convinced there was something seriously wrong with me
”

After: “Today is the first time since perhaps being a child that I am able to thrive internally and externally. Chris was the missing piece of the puzzle. Chris gave me the keys to my life and I’ll always be grateful.”

Sarah BS, VC Investor

"Life is so so much better without having eating issues.”

Before: “Whenever I sought help in the past I felt “not sick enough,” probably because it‘s hard to recognise all the areas in your life that are being compromised by your disordered behaviours, when you’ve just gotten used to feeling mediocre all the time.”

After: “Talking to Chris I became more aware of my values and what I want to achieve. Life is so so much better without having eating issues.”

Valentina Z, Nurse-in-training

Module 1 – Preparing For Success

As part of this module, you get:

  • An understanding of what causes eating disorders and disordered eating and what needs to be done to reverse them
  • A framework on the different stages of recovery, so you can know where you are and what’s most important for you right now
  • Easy-to-follow templates on how to set goals (short and long-term) and how to connect them to your vision of recovery, so you feel pulled to take action rather than filled with resistance
  • Tools for how to shift your mindset and framing of recovery so you can focus on helpful and empowering thoughts
Module 2 – Developing Physical Resilience

As part of this module, you get:

  • A deep understanding of the connection between your symptoms (physiological and psychological) and insufficient energy
  • Specific directions and support ideas for how to start making changes to your eating connected to what stage of recovery you’re in
  • The order of healing that takes place in recovery, so you’ll know what to expect
  • Specific guidance on how to shift your movement and exercise habits so that your body can truly benefit from these activities
Module 3 – Developing Psychological Resilience

As part of this module, you get:

  • An understanding of how your thoughts and beliefs can be harnessed to support recovery
  • Easy-to-learn techniques for dealing with painful thoughts so you can still make the right choices for your recovery without being pushed around by unhelpful thoughts
  • Awareness of the most common cognitive distortions that your mind generates and what to do when they come up
  • A deeper understanding of what body image really is and tools for how to improve it (hint: it has nothing to do with changing how your body looks)
  • Practical ways to use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to increase your mental fortitude so you can cope in constructive (rather than destructive) ways
Module 4 – Developing Emotional Resilience

As part of this module, you get:

  • An understanding of emotional regulation and what this looks like in real life
  • A framework for understanding your nervous system and how this impacts your emotions and your perceptions of yourself and the world around you
  • Tools for creating cues of safety for your body so you can still take action even while doing things that are challenging
  • A technique for how to create room for uncomfortable emotions so you can tolerate them rather than resist them
Module 5 – Developing Connection Resilience

As part of this module, you get:

  • A deep appreciation for the importance of connection – with others and with yourself – and how to use this to support your recovery
  • An exercise to discover your values and what’s important to your life so you can use this to make choices that lead to a value-aligned life
  • How to develop a supportive community and social network so you can get the benefits you need AND set boundaries
  • Knowledge of how things like trauma and neurodivergence can affect connection and what you can do about this
Module 6 – Developing Structural Resilience

As part of this module, you get:

  • Practical ideas for how you can set up your day and week so that the right choices become the easier choices
  • A checklist that you can use to make sure you're staying on track (because in the beginning it can be easy for your recovery to slip without you realising it’s happening)
  • How to systematically deal with your food fears and eating disorder rules so you can eradicate every last one of them
  • How to create joyful experiences in your life right now (rather than putting your life on hold) so that you can have tangible reasons that are pulling you towards recovery
  • The most common ways and times that relapse happens and how you can prevent this from happening to you.

Meet Your Coach

👋 Hey, I'm Chris Sandel!

I specialise in helping clients reach a place of FULL recovery.

As a nutritionist and coach I’ve been working with clients for the last 15 years and I’ve successfully helped countless people put an end to their eating disorder and disordered eating and reach a place of food freedom.

I created The Fundamentals Of Full Recovery because I see so many people who truly desire to break free from the rigidity and pain that the eating disorder creates so they can live a life that’s meaningful and be there authentic selves.

Too many people either haven’t been able to access help or have received sub-standard support and guidance that hasn’t resulted in full recovery, something I believe is possible for every person.

Let’s make full recovery a reality, together!

Chris Sandel, nutritionist and coach

🗣 What My Clients Are Saying

"I’m not constantly worrying that my body isn’t getting what it needs"

Before: “I had a lot of anxiety around my health, and I started to feel that I could only eat things that were very healthy for my body, otherwise, I would be putting myself at risk of all kinds of diseases. I had completely lost the connection that allowed me to listen to my body and what it needed.”

After: “I’m not constantly worrying that my body isn’t getting what it needs. I now feel so differently about how I look, it’s not like the critical thoughts never cross my mind, but I am able to see them for what they are and let them go more easily, and realise that how I look isn’t what is most important to me, it’s how I feel.”

Alice P, Data Analyst

"Our work together has both saved my life and created an opportunity for me to truly live."

Before: “I didn’t have my period, had just been diagnosed with osteoporosis, was underweight, and barely eating 1000 calories day. I was peeing about 5 times a night and was struggling with waking up and wanting to eat in the middle of the night. I hated being alive.”

After: “I am starting to see that my body is capable of functioning normally. I feel like a teenager again. I am enjoying life, eating whatever I want, and having fun. Our work together has both saved my life and created an opportunity for me to truly live.”

Kate E, Recovery Coach

"When you are out the other side you will wonder why you left it so long."

Before: "I kept my calories really low on a normal day (mentally beating myself up if I went over this). I was up at 6am for a 7am cardio class every weekday morning, taking pro plus and metabolism boosters to get me there. My muscles were constantly in pain; I developed injury after injury, never giving myself time to recover. I was exhausted.

After: “Six months later and I am admiring my growing baby bump. I now know how my body works, I know what it needs, and I know the warning signs when it’s not getting what it needs. I could not recommend working with Chris highly enough. He is young, he is smart, he is funny, he is human. And when you are out the other side you will wonder why you left it so long. It’s your right to feel great.”

Meal Support

One of the most challenging parts of recovery can be eating foods you are afraid of. To support this, we’ll be running regular meal support sessions so you can expose yourself to these fear foods in a safe and supportive environment. Anxiety, discomfort, or other negative emotions can arise around food, which is why it can be so helpful to have someone there to provide reassurance, encouragement, and guidance to assist you in building self-esteem and reducing shame and guilt.

Hi, I'm Chris Sandel.

I'm a nutritionist and coach with a passion for helping people reach a place of full recovery. I absolutely love working with people to help them develop resilience and the strength to create a life of freedom.

Unlike other approaches that focus on just one aspect of recovery or focus on “harm reduction” I truly believe that everyone can reach a place of full recovery and I want to show you how.

The truth is, overcoming an eating disorder can be incredibly challenging. And if you don't have the support and a focus on developing the right skills and strengths and an understanding of what’s most important in recovery, then you’re likely to get stuck.

Worse, you’ll come to believe that recovery isn’t even possible for you.

That's why I am so excited to create a space for you to develop all areas of your resiliency so you can get the freedom you desire and live a life free of the eating disorder.

Let’s do this TOGETHER!

Your nutritionist and coach,

Chris Sandel
